8355: Halftime Retort.

Taking the day off with a MultiCultClassics Monologue…

• The Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton are urging Southeastern school districts to scrap plans to make up for snow days by having students attend classes on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Jackson said such actions would trivialize the civil rights icon’s work, and Sharpton encouraged parents to consider keeping their kids out of school for the day. Hey, why don’t these guys complain about the retail stores trivializing matters with mattress sales?

• A new study shows women are less interested than men in jobs where individual competition determines pay. Somewhere, Neil French is feeling vindicated.
