Essay 372

Boys Choir of Harlem founder Walter Turnbull was barred from entering the group’s former school headquarters. The city evicted the choir on Tuesday, a day before the official start of Black History Month. The above photo from the New York Post looks like Turnbull broke into song.

When I saw this story out earlier in the week, I was amazed that I hadn’t heard support from any group or label in the recording industry willing to help them out. Willy Nelson forgets to pay his taxes, next thing you know he has Farm Aid 43 behind him and a book deal.

No one in the music industry can help out here? Freakin’ NYC of all places, one of the biggest music scenes in this country. Disgraceful.

Guess we might as well call the Blues Brothers to have a benefit at this point.
